Brow-lift

The procedure corrects drooping eyebrows and forehead wrinkles. Wrinkles on the forehead are removed by releasing and stretching the skin, combined with the adjustment of mimic muscles.

Eyebrow drop is relatively common, but one rarely notices it at first glance. Ageing is not only associated with the development of wrinkles, but also with an overall drop of the face, cheeks, growth of excess skin on the eyelids and eyebrows. The face looks to be frowning and a forehead-lift is often suitable.

Form of intervention

Brow-lift is performed during hospitalisation. The hospitalisation is about 2-3 days. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. In total, the procedure takes about 60-90 minutes.

Method and course of procedure

The procedure at our site is performed endoscopically from short incisions located in the hairy part of the head just behind the hairline.

Surgical instruments introduced through these incisions are used to separate the skin of the forehead from the frontal bone up to the eyebrow area. A camera is used for visual control.

When combined with wrinkle correction, these approaches also adjust mimic muscles responsible for the formation of wrinkles. The loosened skin is then stretched and fixated in the desired position with sutures or clamps to a pair of steel screws fixed to the skull bone.

Postoperative course and recommendations

Analgesics are given should the patient complain of pain in the postoperative period. A supine position with a raised upper body is recommended after the procedure. It is suitable to apply cold poultice on the forehead. Sutures or staples are removed together with the screws in the outpatient office within two weeks after the procedure. The stretched skin of the forehead will sufficiently adhere to the base at that time. It is possible to wash your hair after two to three days. In most cases, postoperative oedema and haemorrhages subside within two weeks. After the wounds have healed, it is necessary to take care of the scars, which must be protected from sunlight for at least 3 months (you will discuss the details with your physician). The average recovery time after this procedure is about 3 weeks. The upward movement of the eyebrows is associated with a slight shift of the hairline backwards.

Price calculation

Forehead and eyebrow surgery is not covered by health insurance. The total price of the procedure is given by the sum of the price for the procedure itself, the price for general anaesthesia and the price for hospitalisation according to its length – see the price list.

All plastic surgeons perform these surgical procedures at our facility.
